Seren Shawl by Florence Spurling Yarn Kit
Florence Spurling is thrilled to be part of Laine Magazine's Autumn 2022 issue! Florence contributed two designs: the Seren Shawl and Seren Hat. Both were inspired by the patterns and textures seen in traditional quilts. They combine colourwork with tactile stitches and were so enjoyable to create. Florence used Kokon Fingering Weight for both pieces which is one of her favourite bases with the most beautiful colour palette to choose from!
The Seven Shawl is worked in three pieces: a middle piece and right and left wings . Starting with the middle, the sides are picked up one at a time and worked outward from the middle with decreases made along one edge to create a shaped tip. Horizontal lines of textured slipped stitch run throughout the background of the shawl, adding to the hand pieced look.
After the shawl is complete optional tassels can be added to the shaped edge.
